Infrastructure investment in gold mining

Working in partnership with a major mining customer, Vivo Energy Mali worked on a ‘Build Own Operate’ business model for the construction of a fuel and lubricants storage facility at the Tabakoto gold mine in Mali.

We delivered project design, cost evaluation and project management for the construction of:

  • Two 1500 m³ diesel fuel storage tanks
  • One 200 m³ diesel day tank
  • Four 25 m³ storage tanks for bulk lubricant
  • Installation of fuel pipelines
  • Civil, fire-fighting and electrical and instrumentation works
  • Fuel management system

Although construction took place during the wet season in a challenging location, we completed on schedule, with no reportable safety or environmental incidents. The quality of our delivery meant that the ‘defect bond’ was returned early.

Our proven ability to add value at the customer level ensured that our contract was extended for a further 5 years and, in 2010, we delivered an additional 2,000 m³ fuel storage tank to the facility.
