Vivo Energy Ghana Launches School Road Safety Empowerment Programme
Vivo Energy Ghana has launched a school road safety empowerment programme in partnership with the National Road Safety Commission (NSRC) and the Ghana Education Service.
The programme dubbed “My Road Safety, My Life”, has the broad objective of educating school children for a conscious, civilized and safe behaviour on the road as pedestrians, passengers and cyclist. “My Road Safety” is a pedagogic interactive programme comprising of series of classroom work, outdoor road safety activities, simulation exercises, quiz competitions among other activities.
The first phase of the programme is being implemented in ten basic schools in the Greater Accra Region located on high risk roads. Participating schools are SDA Basic School, Bishop Mixed, Bishop Girls, Accra Sempe Primary, Boundary Road, Kwashieman “1” Basic School, Kwashieman “2” Primary School, Mamprobi Sempe 5 JHS/North 4 Primary School, Salvation Army B Basic and All Saints Anglican Basic.
The Minster for Transport, Honourable Dzifa Attivor who launched the programme, said the government takes a serious view of any effort that promotes the welfare of the people and remains committed to supporting the efforts of the NRSC and its stakeholders who, through such collaborations also discharge their corporate social responsibilities. “It is for this reason that we shall continue to support in any way possible, any measure that has the potential to contribute to the reduction and prevention of road traffic crashes in the Country”, says Hon.
