Vivo Energy Mauritius promotes roads safety among young people

In 2013, Vivo Energy Mauritius launched Cite Zen, Road Safety Awareness Campaign targeting young people.

At Vivo Energy, we choose to focus our community investment efforts on road safety, education and the environment. Cite Zen is one of our high-impact community initiatives aimed at improving the lives of the inhabitants by promoting the importance of their safety and that of others on the road.

Vivo Energy Mauritius therefore launched an innovative partnership with pupils of local schools, at primary and secondary level. The initiative was run in collaboration with the Ministry of Education & Human Resources and the Road Safety Unit at the Prime Minister’s Office.

Cité Zen featured, among other components, a posters contest for primary schools and a screenplay writing contest for secondary schools. Both competitions focussed on road safety themes. Students were encouraged to reflect on road incident factors and on the kind of behaviour that should be promoted to ensure safety on our roads.

Winners from secondary schools were then trained to produce 3D animation clips based on their winning scripts. These clips are now used for further promoting road safety among the general public.
