Vivo Energy Kenya celebrated its retailers and staff for being best performers in Africa in the PEOPLE Make the Difference REAL (PMTDR) program. This is an umbrella program that helps Vivo Retailers and their staff to achieve the level of operational excellence in customer service and forecourt cleanliness, needed to meet and exceed customer expectations.
It is equipped to make the difference real to customers, on every visit, on every site, every day. Vivo Energy and its partner Shell have invested a lot of resources in this program not just in Kenya, but globally. The program is run in 70 countries and is premised on the understanding that at the heart of every business, people are the most important resources.

This year Kenya clinched five top positions, beating 10 other African countries. Two retailers and three VEK retail staff emerged top in various categories of the competition. Vivo Energy Kenya Managing Director who spoke during the celebrations said, “I am extremely pleased with the performance of our team this year. They have done us proud and put us on the global winners map. I know it was not a walk in the park for them, but lots of hard-work and dedication was put in so as to emerge with such excellent results and this is the reason for recognizing, celebrating and rewarding them.” This is the best performance from Kenya since the inception of the programme in 2006. 

The programme has a Reward & Recognition structure for the Retailers, Site Staff, and retail staff, the highlight being to compete for the coveted global travel award to a pre-determined destination. The criteria for selecting winners includes excellence in fuels and lubricants sales performance, excellence in customer service as measured by  a mystery motorist, and  active  ‘up selling’ of other forecourts product. This year the winners will travel to Barcelona Spain on 6th of May.  They are: Retailers: Mohamed Shafi of Tegemeo Service Station and  Muhib Noorani of Northview Service Station. Vivo Energy remains a dominant player in the Kenyan economy and is on an aggressive expansion plan geared towards expanding its footprint in Kenya. Vivo Energy Kenya will this year invest over USD 10 million in its storage and distribution network new product launches and opening of retail sites countrywide. To date the company has invested USD 4million in the upgrading of the Nairobi Terminal storage capacity. Service stations have also received a significant amount of investment through upgrades which has given them a new look and feel.
