Stanbic Bank and Vivo Energy Uganda, the company that distributes and markets Shell-branded fuels and lubricants in Uganda, today launched a partnership in which consumers of Shell products will enjoy a cashless mode of payment at all Shell service stations countrywide. The service is absolutely free for users of a VISA or MasterCard enabled ATM card to carry out transactions at the fuel pump or Shell Select shopping outlets.
Speaking at the launch of the partnership, the Head of Personal and Business Banking at Stanbic Bank, Mr Douglas Kamwendo said: “With the challenges faced in a fast growing economy, it’s imperative that we provide fast, safe and convenient ways for our customers to transact. Hence this partnership to provide cashless transactions, a benefit to both our client, Shell and the customers”.
The Managing Director Vivo Energy Uganda, Mr. Ivan Kyayonka added that, “We are a Shell licensee, which means we continue to distribute and market all Shell Products in Uganda. One of the major challenges we face is the risk of carrying cash which leaves us vulnerable to fraud and aggravated robberies. One of our safety measures in place is to control the amount of money each pump attendant holds at any one time. We welcome this partnership and appreciate Stanbic Bank for the initiative that will not only improve safety and security at the stations, but also provide convenience to us and our customers”.
We are pleased to announce that because of this partnership, from 31st July to 31st August 2013 customers will enjoy a bonus. For every purchase of UGX 100,000 worth of fuel you receive a top up an equivalent of UGX 10,000, added Mr Douglas Kamwendo.
