Vivo Energy Kenya, the company that distributes and markets Shell-branded fuels and lubricants, today launched a limited Happy Hour campaign whereby motorists will fuel  free for one hour at  designated Shell service stations.

“We want motorists to sample the new fuels we launched in the market, Shell FuelSave Unleaded and FuelSave Diesel, and experience the difference,” said Polycarp Igathe, Managing Director, Vivo Energy Kenya.

The offer comes barely a month after Vivo Energy Kenya introduced Shell FuelSave Unleaded and Shell FuelSave Diesel into the Kenyan market to replace the Shell Diesel Extra and Shell Unleaded and help Kenyan drivers drive longer at no extra cost on the fuel.

The ‘happy hour’ campaign that kicked off today in Nairobi will run for six week across the country and will see motorists receive free fuel every week on Fridays until September 5,, 2014. The fuel will only be available for one hour at the selected Shell petrol stations. To benefit, one needs to have a Shell FuelSave bumper sticker and be at the petrol station during the happy hour moment.

Besides Nairobi, other regions that will benefit from this initiative include: Mount Kenya, Western, Coast and Rift Valley regions.

“Shell FuelSave fuels are the result of  extensive research and development programme aimed at discovering and designing fuels to help improve engine efficiency and so make fuel last longer,” added Mr. Igathe.

He was speaking during the kickoff of the ‘happy hour’ campaign at Shell service station along Mbagathi Way, Nairobi where he fuelled vehicles of the first lucky winners of the campaign.

While Shell FuelSave Unleaded is formulated to reduce energy losses by lubricating where engine oils are less effective and developed to keep inlet valves clean, hinder deposit formation and enhance engine efficiency, Shell FuelSave Diesel is designed to ignite and burn more successful hence helping to generate more efficient combustion in the engine. The fuel is also designed to help protect against the build-up of chip deposits by dissolving them and washing them into the combustion chamber where they are burned completely along with the fuel.
