The 2014 Shell V-Power Pearl of Africa Uganda Rally kicked off on the 15th of August 2014 at Silver Springs Hotel in Bugolobi up to Saturday 16th August 2014.

The Shell VPower sponsored event that attracted 41 participants including 8 foreign competitors received a boost 100,000,000 Uganda Shillings in facilitation from Vivo Energy Uganda, the company that distributes and markets Shell Fuels and Lubricants.

Speaking during the flag off ceremony at Silver Springs in Bugolobi, Vivo Energy Managing Director Hans Paulsen urged the participants, fans and the general public to observe the safety measures put in place to ensure their full safety during the rally.

Vivo Energy is committed to maintaining the very highest safety standards and together with the Federation for Motorsport (FMU) in Uganda, committed Safety guidelines & plans that provided assurance of the safety of the participants, spectators and the general public during this year's rally.

Mr. Paulsen also assured customers of the company’s commitment to meet consumer needs through continuous innovation to improve product offering and giving customers the quality fuels they deserve. He noted that Shell V-Power actively cleans the engine & protects vital parts for better performance, giving drivers a more exciting drive.

Shell V-Power is a 95 Octane unleaded high quality fuel that delivers improved responsiveness and power.

“We are proud to once again bring the Ugandan consumers and rally fans driving excitement that only Shell V-Power provides. We offer a product that delivers performance that excites. The rally creates a platform to demonstrate it and remind our consumers of these benefits.” He explained.

The main route of this year’s rally was between Semuto and Matuga and the other competitive routes will include the Sanga - Masulita, Semuto - Masulita, Kanyanda - Semuto and Gombe - Kavule.  The super stage was held at Matuga on Friday with the first stage taking place at the Zion Estates.
