At Vivo Energy Namibia, we want to make a real and lasting difference to the communities in which we operate. Our community investment programmes matter to us because we employ local people and serve local businesses and individuals. We want to create lasting social and economic benefits for these communities and engage with them to earn their respect and trust. We have chosen to focus on three key areas of community investment. These are road safety, education and the environment. Below are some recent examples highlighting our efforts.
Vivo Energy Namibia is one of the main initiators of the Private Sector Road Safety Forum, which aims to reduce road traffic casualties through public/private partnerships between local industry, civil society and the Namibian government.
Vivo Energy Namibia also contributes to improving road safety through running initiatives involving our employees, the media and other stakeholders.
Vivo Energy Namibia launched ‘Career guidance on wheels’, a Ministry of Education-endorsed initiative that aims to assist pupils with subject and career choices. It introduces them to new and emerging career fields, assists them with profile (psychometric) assessments and provides them with general support and encouragement.
Together with the Namibia Media holdings, Vivo Energy Namibia runs an annual media campaign for World Environment Day, targeting the Namibian public through education and fun participatory campaigns.
