Vivo Energy Zambia Partners with Stakeholders to launch the Staying Alive Campaign

speech

Vivo Energy Zambia on the 16th of June 2022 launched its Road Transport Safety Culture Campaign- Staying Alive in partnership with their main transporters Juba and Mohab and the country’s Road Transport and Safety Agency.

The Staying Alive logo depicted by a red heart line represents the human heartbeat and meant to signify the desire as humans to stay alive as long as we possibly can, whilst the green colour in the wording represents life, nature and the environment.

With road transport being a key HSSE risk focus area not only for the OU, but the larger VE Group, the Staying Alive Concept was designed with the objective of being the OU's Road Safety Mantra, as well as:

  1. Championing environmental protection wrt transportation of dangerous goods
  2. Raising awareness on the dangers associated with the transportation of dangerous goods
  3. Enhancing relationships between VEZ and its related stakeholders such as RTSA, ZEMA and transporters.

Speaking during the launch, the OU Managing Director, Fouad Khfifi reiterated that ''Staying Alive is not a mere campaign that we kick off today only but it shall be our Road Safety Mantra that is designed to serve as a constant reminder of the risks associated with the transportation of our products and the role each one of us plays in ensuring that we safely transport them across the country.''

As Vivo Energy Zambia, one of the key objectives of Staying Alive is to make Goal Zero a reality, something that requires stakeholder collaboration.

As a responsible corporate entity and as a key part of the OU's sustainability agenda, Staying Alive is also meant to champion environmental protection during the transportation of products.

The OU's HSSE Manager Muloongo Yamba also went on to emphasize that 'Environmental protection during transportation of our products is not only a matter of corporate or legal obligation, it is also a matter of moral obligation as we only have one earth and have the moral obligation to protect and preserve it for the future generations.''

Road Transport and Safety Agency Director of enforcement Mr Zulu stated that ''The Staying Alive campaign by Vivo Energy Zambia in collaboration with its transporters is a commendable initiative as it is a clear testament to the organizations' commitment to Road Safety. He further called on Vivo Energy Zambia and its transporters- Juba & Mohab- to extend the partnership to RTSA in order to get the Staying Alive message across a broader audience through public awareness programs involving key stakeholders in our communities such as bus drivers, taxi drivers and marketeers.
