Lusaka, Zambia – 10th September 2024 - With the rise of sub-standard products in the market, Vivo Energy Zambia is committed to ensuring the public is well informed about the superior quality of its Engen fuels and Shell lubricants, as well as the advanced product quality control measures in the fuel supply chain.

Vivo Energy Zambia, the company that distributes and markets Engen-branded fuels and Shell lubricants, operates under the highest global Health, Safety, Security, Environment and Quality (HSSEQ) standards and also adheres to all local regulations. The company sets and upholds the highest standards across all aspects of HSSEQ, including stringent product quality controls throughout its supply chain.

As part of its ongoing drive for innovation, Vivo Energy Zambia differentiates itself and its products from sub-standard offerings on the market.

To guarantee that Engen fuels and Shell lubricants reach customers at their intended high quality, Vivo Energy has implemented rigorous quality control processes throughout the entire supply chain. Vivo Energy Zambia has invested in state-of-the-art inhouse fuel testing laboratory, Terminal Automation System and other standard quality control measures at its Lusaka Depot.

“Our laboratory in Lusaka is currently the only inhouse facility of its kind with capability to analyse petroleum products and provides customers with assurance on the highest quality of products supplied through our customers,” said Edward Walugembe, Vivo Energy Managing Director.

Vivo Energy Zambia recently hosted media representatives at its Lusaka depot to demonstrate its commitment to product quality. Participants took guided tour of the depot and had the opportunity to witness fuel sampling and testing procedures in the newly upgraded laboratory equipped with the state-of-the-art technology, loading at the fully automated depot as well as world class dispatch procedures. This initiative reinforces Vivo Energy Zambia’s commitment to highest standards of Health Safety Security and Environment (HSSEQ) as well as delivering high-quality products to our valued customers.

Edward Walugembe added: “We used this opportunity to showcase our depot operations, including the stringent product testing procedures we follow. We highlighted the strong processes we have in place to ensure a consistently controlled and high-quality supply chain. Additionally, we undergo rigorous independent third-party fuel quality audits to verify not only the quality of our base fuels but also their quantities and specifications. Partners like SGS, the company that provides inspection, verification, testing and certification services, are responsible for inspecting our trucks prior to loading and sealing them in readiness for dispatch, thus ensuring that we always deliver on the promise of the unique benefits offered by Engen fuels.”

In order to ensure an end-to-end quality assurance process to our customers, the product is tested for quality prior to offloading with vehicles monitored 24/7 to the customer sites. It is important that the product maintains the same quality from the loading depot to customer site. At retail stations, we ensure quality checks are done twice by quality marshalls who undergo a specialised training provided by Vivo Energy to ensure quality standards are upheld at the service stations.

For customers who care about the health and performance of their engines, the next stop should be an Engen service station!
