Vivo Energy celebrates 30 years of Somagaz in Mayotte
Mamoudzou, Mayotte - 23 September 2026: Vivo Energy has celebrated the 30th anniversary of the Somagaz brand in Mayotte. The occasion was marked with a memorable event held on 23 September at the Somagaz office in Longoni, with Fazouili Manrifa, Second Deputy Mayor of Koungou, and several members of the Vivo Energy Group leadership team in attendance: Stan Mittelman, CEO, Peyami Oven, EVP Maghreb & Indian Ocean, Fouad Khfifi, Managing Director of Vivo Energy Mauritius and Stephan Rambhoro, Managing Director of Vivo Energy Mayotte.
For three decades, Somagaz has supported Mayotte’s economic and social development and has played a part in the daily lives of the island's residents. LPG supply operations on the island began in 1996.
The acquisition of Somagaz by the Vivo Energy Group in 2023 marked a new chapter for the company. Since then, Vivo Energy has increased its investments to meet the highest safety standards, expand the production and distribution capacity of LPG cylinders for households, and enhance the services provided to commercial customers.
“This 30th anniversary marks an important milestone for Somagaz and reflects our commitment to remaining close to our customers. This legacy has been built over three decades of presence in Mayotte and continues today with Vivo Energy. We are proud to contribute to the island’s development through our distribution network, which includes 167 Somagaz sales points. We would like to thank all our customers and partners who have supported us and helped make Somagaz what it is today,” said Stephan Rambhoro, Managing Director of Vivo Energy Mayotte.
For Stan Mittelman, CEO of Vivo Energy, this anniversary was an opportunity to celebrate three decades of trust, innovation and close customer relationships: “We are immensely proud that Mayotte is part of the Vivo Energy Group and to see Somagaz evolve from an LPG supplier into a true partner, supporting industries and contributing to the daily lives of the people of Mayotte.
This 30th anniversary is more than a celebration of the past. It is also an opportunity to reaffirm our commitment to building the future together. To succeed in the years ahead, we must continue to evolve and strive to serve our customers even better.”
This celebration was also marked by the inauguration of new Somagaz infrastructure, resulting from investments made by Vivo Energy to strengthen operational capabilities and support the continuity of LPG supply across the island. These investments will significantly reduce the time required to return cylinders to service, improve the availability and reliability of the cylinder fleet, and strengthen the resilience of the LPG supply chain in Mayotte.
