London, United Kingdom – 24 February 2026: Vivo Energy, the market-leading pan-African retailer and distributor of Shell and Engen-branded fuels and lubricants, has launched its annual global safety campaign, reinforcing the importance of Health, Safety, Security, Environment & Quality (HSSEQ) in the business.

At Vivo Energy, the health and safety of employees, contractors, customers and communities are central to how the company operates. Each year, during a safety campaign, colleagues take the time to stop, think and reflect on their safety practices, identifying practical ways to strengthen them at both an individual and collective level. This year’s safety campaign theme is “Prepare to respond”. The Group will focus on strengthening its understanding of how to prepare for potential emergencies and how to respond effectively should one occur. Building these capabilities is essential to keeping its people, workplaces, operations and the communities where it operates safe.

The 28 markets of Vivo Energy will hold dedicated ‘Safety Day’ events featuring a broad range of activities designed to strengthen safety capabilities — from crisis simulations involving colleagues, partners, contractors and local health and safety authorities, to expert-led sessions focused on sharing best practices. At Group level, the company will conduct a central emergency exercise giving central teams an opportunity to put into practice preparation and response planning. A webinar with some local HSSEQ managers sharing best practice will also take place.”

Commenting on the campaign launch, Grant Bairstow, Vice President HSSEQ & AMTA said: “At Vivo Energy, we share the belief that every incident is preventable, and we are committed to fostering a culture of continuous improvement and safety vigilance. The annual safety campaign is an opportunity for all employees and contractors to focus on the importance of HSSEQ. The safety of our people, our partners and of the communities where we operate is our utmost priority. This year, we especially want to practice good safety habits and ensure that we all know what to do, who to reach out to, and what lifesaving techniques to apply in case of an emergency.”

Vivo Energy’s continuing ambition is to achieve ‘Goal Zero’, meaning no harm to its people, business partners, customers or the environment. Operating safely and responsibly while ensuring the company is able to rapidly and effectively respond to an incident is fundamental to delivering on the Group’s vision to be Africa’s leading and most respected energy business.
