Dar es Salaam, Tanzania – November 9, 2024 – Vivo Energy Tanzania, the company that distributes Engen-branded fuels and Shell lubricants in Tanzania, today celebrates the success of its flagship campaign entitled Uzuri wa Tanzania, Fahari Yangu. This is an initiative designed to foster creativity, national pride, and empower Tanzanian youth. Launched on September 27th at Msimbazi Secondary School, this vibrant campaign has reached over 12,000 students across 21 schools in Dar es Salaam, capturing the attention of young artists from communities throughout the region.

Through this campaign, Vivo Energy Tanzania, in collaboration with esteemed partners including the University of Dar es Salaam, UN Global Compact, the Embassy of Switzerland, the Tanzania Tourism Board, Coca-Cola, and NMB, has provided a platform for young Tanzanians to showcase their artistic talents while celebrating the rich culture, landscapes, and heritage of Tanzania. By engaging young artists to submit creative works reflecting Tanzania's beauty and cultural identity, the campaign promotes a deep sense of pride in the nation and its diverse traditions.

A panel of experts from the University of Dar es Salaam, the Tanzania Tourism Board, and Vivo Energy Tanzania reviewed submissions from young artists, selecting 13 finalists—seven from universities and six from secondary schools—to attend a three-day masterclass. This intensive workshop provided the finalists with an opportunity to refine their skills, gain cultural insights, and hone their presentation abilities. Selected finalists will showcase their work in exhibitions and on international platforms, enhancing their exposure and impact on both a local and global stage.

Mohamed Bougriba, Managing Director of Vivo Energy Tanzania, congratulated the winners of the campaign and expressed his deep appreciation for the partnerships that made the initiative a success. He stated: ‘It’s amazing how this initiative gathered all of you together around this wonderful concept Uzuri wa Tanzania Fahari Yangu! There’s a saying: “we cannot clap with one hand” and, today, we are all confirming this together. To all our partners, I would like to say Thank you so Much.  Today, we are gathered to celebrate and to announce the winners: 3 from university and 3 from secondary school …  it was not easy for them as they were selected among 117 submissions from 21 schools’.

Bougriba added:    Vivo Energy, we consider that it’s our responsibility to play an active role to promote 3 focus areas: education, health and environment within our community and this initiative, Uzuri wa Tanzania Fahari Yangu, underscores our commitment to not only education but also to nurturing creativity and national pride among Tanzanian youth. On top of that, this is fully aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Through their art, these young artists also represent the environment, capturing the beauty of Tanzania’s natural landscapes, wildlife, and culture. Their work reminds us of the importance of preserving and celebrating our environment, and how deeply connected we are to it.

Recognizing the winners reflects Vivo Energy’s deep commitment to investing in education and supporting Tanzania’s next generation of leaders and cultural ambassadors—our talented young creatives.
