A noble Cause by VE Zambia to UTH Special School
VE Zambia team held an event launching its support for the UTH Special School in Lusaka, which caters to children with special needs. The event featured several special attendees and ended with a handover ceremony of important school equipment.
UTH Special School is a school-based in Lusaka the capital of the country. The School is under the University Teaching Hospital Management and houses an average of 250 learners. The learners at this school are differently abled and have challenges including hearing, vision impairment and autism.

Following the interactions between the Vivo Energy Zambia team and the staff at the school, VE Zambia decided to meet some of the needs of these learners as part of its CSR mandate. Most of the areas of need for the leaners included stationery like text books, pencils and pens as well as food stuff for the school's feeding programme.

Vivo Energy Zambia Managing Director, Mr Fouad Khfifi, expressed the following words, “we were glad to learn that the school recognizes the importance of continuously training the students in different aspects of their lives as a way of empowering them towards greater aspirations and achieving their goals". He further echoed the importance of keeping the learners active in both academic programs and extra curriculum activities which helps them to be continuously engaged.

The event was graced by the Vivo Energy Group CEO Mr Stan Mittelman and some members of the Vivo Energy Management staff who were present during their visit to Zambia. In his speech, the CEO emphasised that at Vivo Energy, we strive to make a real and lasting difference to the communities where we operate and thus focus on three key areas of community investment – road safety, education and the environment thus our presence at the school.
The CEO further went on to say that it was an honor for him to be part of the occasion as Vivo Energy Zambia demonstrated its support to the University Teaching Hospital Special School
The Guest of Honour, Permanent Secretary Ministry of Education- Administration Mrs Noriana Muneku thanked Vivo Energy and Vivo Energy Zambia at large for their kind gesture to the learners with special needs at the school. She stated that this gesture was in line with the Government's strategy of providing education to all children and thereby creating equal opportunities.
This was followed by a handover ceremony of the donated items from Vivo Energy Zambia to the School Acting Head Teacher.

A vote of thanks was given by one of the learners who indicated that the donation was going to help prepare the learners for the next stages in their education and employed everyone not to neglect the special children in their different communities.

The learners then had fun activities that were managed by a clown with some face painting, while the Vivo Energy Team took a tour around the School.
As VE Zambia, we continue to support the Education sector as it is a general commitment to assist the communities where we operate.
