Vivo Energy Zambia and Office of the Vice President partner for second phase of project restoration tree planting initiative in Malundu Resettlement Area
LUSAKA, Zambia – 22 August 2025 – Vivo Energy Zambia, in partnership with the Government of the Republic of Zambia's Office of the Vice President, Resettlement Division, conducted a significant tree planting exercise in the Malundu resettlement area, Monze District, Southern Province.
This initiative represents the second phase of a groundbreaking environmental conservation program that began with successful tree planting activities in Kanakantapa, Chongwe District in January 2025. Following the successful implementation in Kanakantapa earlier this year, the program now extends to Southern Province, targeting the Malundu resettlement community. The initiative aims to plant hundreds of trees that will contribute to ecosystem restoration, climate resilience, and economic opportunities for resettled families.
In remarks read on his behalf at the ceremony, Edward Walugembe, Managing Director, Vivo Energy Zambia said: "We are proud to partner with the Office of the Vice President on the expansion of Project Restoration. This tree-planting programme marks a shared commitment to the environment and the families of Malundu – together we're planting for a greener, more resilient future."
The collaboration emphasises local community participation and sustainable practices to ensure long-term success and environmental impact. Residents of Malundu will be actively involved in the planting process and received training on tree care and maintenance.
The tree planting exercise forms part of Vivo Energy’s broader corporate social responsibility pillar, which focuses on environmental conservation, community development, and sustainable business practices.
