Cape Town, South Africa - 12 March 2026: Engen, a Vivo Energy brand and South Africa’s biggest fuel brand, has renewed its long-standing partnership with SA Rugby, reaffirming its commitment to supporting rugby in South Africa at both professional and grassroots level.

The renewed agreement strengthens a relationship that continues to play an important role in the country’s rugby landscape. Through this partnership, Engen backs the Springboks on the global stage while investing in initiatives that grow the game and expand access to rugby within local communities.

At Vivo Energy, we believe in the power of sport for uniting our communities. It inspires national pride, connects our people and creates moments that resonate far beyond the final whistle.

Few sports hold the same cultural significance in South Africa as rugby. By aligning with the cultural power of rugby, Vivo Energy, through its Engen brand, continues to go beyond traditional sponsorship by supporting the game’s presence and growth across the country.

George Roberts, EVP South and CEO Engen, says the partnership reflects the company’s deep connection with South Africans.

“Rugby is deeply embedded in the fabric of our country. Renewing our partnership with SA Rugby reflects our belief that what matters to South Africans, matters to Engen – demonstrating that with Engen, South Africans are Number One.

“We are proud to support rugby across all levels, from the Springboks inspiring the nation to grassroots initiatives such as Get Into Rugby, which nurture the next generation of players. Through this partnership, we can continue playing a meaningful role in ensuring that rugby, and the opportunities it creates, remain accessible to communities across South Africa.”

SA Rugby welcomed the continued collaboration, highlighting the importance of long-term corporate partnerships in sustaining and advancing the game.

“For the past six years, Engen has been a valued partner to South African rugby. The renewal of this partnership strengthens our ability to deliver excellence at elite level while continuing to expand access and development opportunities across the country. Partnerships such as this play an important role in ensuring the long-term success, transformation and growth of rugby in South Africa,” said SA Rugby CEO, Rian Oberholzer.

As the 2026 rugby season unfolds, Engen will activate the partnership through digital storytelling, matchday engagement and community-focused initiatives.

The renewed agreement reinforces Vivo Energy and Engen’s commitment not only to the sport itself, but also to the communities and everyday moments shaped by rugby across South Africa.
