Vivo Energy Namibia completes the divestment of service stations to Nasan Energies
Windhoek, Namibia - 27 May 2026: Having obtained approval from the Namibian Competition Commission, Vivo Energy Namibia and Nasan Energies Namibia (Pty) Ltd today announced the successful completion of the transaction under which Nasan Energies has acquired the divested Engen and Shell-branded fuel service stations from Vivo Energy Namibia. Nasan Energies is now the owner and operator of these sites, marking the conclusion of the divestment process and a defining moment for Namibia's energy sector.
The transaction follows the announcement made on 17 September 2025. The divestment was required as a condition of the Namibian Competition Commission's approval of Vivo Energy's acquisition of Engen Limited from Petronas in May 2024. Vivo Energy has now fully satisfied all regulatory requirements associated with that divestment.
Johan Grobbelaar, Managing Director, Vivo Energy Namibia, commented: “Completion of this transaction represents the fulfilment of our regulatory commitment to the Namibian Competition Commission and to the people of Namibia. We have worked closely and collaboratively with the Nasan Energies team over recent months to ensure the smoothest possible transition at these sites. We wish Nasan Energies every success as they take ownership and build on the strong foundations that have been established at these stations.”
With immediate effect, all of the divested service stations - currently operating under the Engen and Shell brands - are owned and supplied by Nasan Energies. All enquiries relating to these sites should be directed to Nasan Energies. A full list of the service stations now operated by Nasan Energies is available at https://www.vivoenergy.com/en/namibia/nasan-energies-sites.
The Shell-branded sites within the portfolio are in the process of being debranded. The Engen-branded sites will continue to display Engen branding during a transition period, in accordance with the terms of the transaction. During this period, Nasan Energies will be responsible for the operation, customer service, fuel supply and management of the divested stations. In due course, all sites will be progressively rebranded to reflect the Nasan identity.
Miguel Hamutenya, Co-founder of Nasan Energies, said: “Today marks an important milestone for Nasan Energies. Nasan Energies is proud to stand as one of Namibia’s first privately owned, locally founded major oil marketing companies. We have taken full ownership and operational responsibility for these service stations and are committed to delivering the highest standards of service and reliability to our customers from day one. We thank Vivo Energy for their partnership and professionalism throughout this process. Nasan Energies is open for business, and we look forward to serving our communities.”
